Four new COVID-19 clusters in Cornwall confirmed today
There were eleven new clusters yesterday
The latest COVID-19 cluster map for Cornwall shows four new clusters of coronavirus in the county.
While there were no cases recorded yesterday in Saltash Latchbrook & St Stephens; Towednack, Lelant & Carbis Bay; Truro South and Central, and Truro West, there have now been recorded small clusters in these areas.
The most recent data, published this evening but showing the figures from October 1 to October 7, shows a total of 26 clusters in Cornwall, ranging from just three cases to eleven cases.
Yesterday, there were eleven new clusters areas in Cornwall, and the largest cluster was recorded for The Lizard, with 11 cases.
While The Lizard still has the biggest cluster in Cornwall, the size of the cluster has now decreased to eight cases.
What does the COVID-19 cluster map show?
The COVID-19 cluster map uses data from Public Health England's second generation surveillance system (SGSS) to show the pockets of Cornwall where coronavirus cases are on the rise. The map does this by highlighting which areas of the city have three or more confirmed cases of the virus and colour co-coordinating the areas by how many cases they have.
The map is divided into areas - officially known as Middle Super Output Areas (MSOA) - and each area is coloured a certain shade of blue, depending on how many cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in that area.
The darker the blue on the image, the more positive cases there have been.
