Project Description

Title of ProjectHayle South Quay- Ground Investigation for Penpol BridgeHint, Short title describing the project, e.g. Smithfield Ground Investigation Works

Background to Project (aims and objectives)As part of the South Quay development, a bridge spanning from South Quay to Penpol Terrace is proposed. This is known as Penpol Bridge. The bridge has been approved in outline planning but is still subject to a detailed planning application.

This application is for the ground Investigation to characterise ground conditions and inform the design and construction of Penpol bridge foundations. The ground investigation involves the construction of the working platform for the piling rig and the removal of material from four boreholes, located at the two proposed bridge abutments (on Penpol Terrace and South Quay) and the two intermediate bridge piers. The borehole locations are to be confirmed once the location of the bridge is determined. However, we have shown the extent of the possible area that the ground investigation works are to be undertaken.

The construction of the Penpol Bridge is not part of this application and this will be applied for in due course when the design has been confirmed.Hint, Overview of the project including a brief description (max. 2500 characters). Referring to attached document is not acceptable.
