Following a gap of three years the flower-arrangers were back in the village hall this afternoon! [Friday 11th November]
The talented ladies completed 23 flower arrangements - as shown in the photos. A really enjoyable afternoon ending with tea, coffee and biscuits.

The weather was amazing....Thanks to everyone who turned out to have Fun.
Special thanks to the Community Centre, Angarrack Inn and Angarrack Christmas Lights. Thanks to all who came, especially all those who helped.

The setting sun just about clings on long enough to illuminate 57602 as it rolls across Angarrack viaduct with 2C51, the 17.50 Exeter St Davids - Penzance on 17 June 2017. Photographing the GWR loco-hauled this far west is only really doable in high summer with a clear sky to the west - with the train running late it was after 9pm and the light was really fading fast. read more »

The past two Friday afternoons have welcomed to our Community Centre 25+ ladies who watched and enjoyed Lynne's demonstrations for Christmas arrangements in the home.
These afternoons are still very popular in this our 12th year.

The past two Friday afternoons have welcomed to our Community Centre 25+ ladies who watched and enjoyed Lynne's demonstrations for Christmas arrangements in the home.
These afternoons are still very popular in this our 12th year.

Tin ingot that was retrieved from the wreck of Hayle's SS Cheerful

Yesterday's mystery object was a tin ingot, one of several retrieved from the wreck of the SS Cheerful. The ingots, weighing 28 lbs and 56 lbs, bore marks from the smelting houses at Treloweth Copper Mine, St Erth, Carn Vadras Truro, Trethallan Truro, Berre Fernes Tamar.
SS Cheerful was a steam cargo ship. On 20th July 1885 she was on her way from Falmouth to Liverpool carrying a cargo of 28 lb & 56 lb tin ingots, with a full crew and a few foot passengers. At 4am she collided with HMS Hecla (a munitions ship) on her way to Portsmouth. The sea was calm with a ground swell, but there was a thick haze.
12 people lost their lives when the ship went down.
The wreck lies 35 fathoms down, approximately 18 miles NNW of St Ives.
