A CONSULTATION on the future ownership of Hayle Harbour will still go ahead despite delays.

Gary Cartmell, on behalf of harbour owners ING, is conducting the process which will eventually see many harbour assets including land transferred to a community group.

Mr Cartmell said he was currently conducting scoping work to ensure all the right parties were involved in the consultation.

"It's a one-off opportunity to make sure everybody has an even say in what's involved and what we're planning to do," he said. "It's important everyone agrees the formality of the consultation.

"The preliminary consultation is about the transfer of the harbour to a community body and what that will entail."

The group which takes on the running of the harbour will be responsible for its structure and operation.

Mr Cartmell said he intended to address town councillors on the issue shortly.
