A FIRST aid table has been donated to the RNLI lifeguard station at Gwithian in the memory of a Hayle man.

Donovan Harris's family presented the equipment to lifeguards at the station last week. His widow, Marea, of Angarrack, said Gwithian had been her husband's favourite beach and that he had been a keen surfer.

She said: "We asked them (the lifeguards) what they would like and they said a first aid bench because they just have chairs.

"Sometimes, if someone is unwell, they might want to lie down and we have had a plaque made as well."
