PEOPLE in west Cornwall are being urged to be on their guard after card skimming machines were found installed on several cash points in Hayle, St Ives and Penzance.

The ATM outside Tesco Carbis Bay was first tampered with on Wednesday, August 17.

Police have also received reports of similar incidents outside Lloyds Bank at Foundry Square and the Co-op food store in Hayle. There was also a possible attempt to tamper with the machine outside Penzance Halifax bank.

Inspector Jean Phillips said: "We had some of the machines closed in Hayle last weekend and have asked supermarkets and banks to carry out regular checks on their machines to make sure they have not been tampered with. People are urged to report any suspicious activity to the police. Also always cover the keypad and remember it is safer to use the machines inside the banks rather than outside."

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the police on 08452 777444 quoting log 455 201811.
