Members of the Hayle Rotary club were delighted to receive a visit from students and staff of the Hayle Community school who had participated in their Annual competition which the Rotary club has supported and co-sponsored since its inception many years ago.  Tutors Jon Clatworthy and

Rachael Warren were accompanied by competitors Kate Weeks and Millie Le Bas who had impressed invited guests and judges at the school in the competition last term.  The winner Kate was presented with her trophy for a superb Salmon en Croute main course with a dessert of chocolate Fondant with Bailey's cream.   Millie was congratulated as a close runner upon her very tasty Chicken & Chorizo Paella followed by a chocolate Fondant and clotted cream.  Both were highly praised by members and the invitation to perhaps produce a meal at one of the club meetings or assist at one of the charity barbecues remains to be activated.  A very convivial and friendly evening was enjoyed by all with Rotarian John Gorst thanking the guests.

The following week the club welcomed Dr. Bryson Pottinger, (Director of Services) from RCHT Treliske who gave an in depth talk on all aspects of the Cove Cancer Centre project taking shape at the Hospital and soon to be fully operational.  With visiting Rotarians from Mounts Bay, Penzance, Helston and Worcester actively taking part in the meeting a comprehensive question and answer session followed the lecture before club I.P. President David Gregg presented a cheque to Dr. Bryson towards the appeal fund. Fund raising barbecues have now commenced with the first of three now held at Calloose Camping and Caravan site in Leedstown successfully raising funds for Jamie, a three year old local boy with Autism, to help fund his course of treatment. The next barbecue at Calloose will be held today, August 11, as part of the site's day of fun activities. Please support the efforts by attending the day and evening activities.  All welcome.  After the club visit to the Air Ambulance complex the next social visit is to the Hall for Cornwall for a show and meal next week.

To find out more about Rotary and their activities please contact Trevor (10736 793596) or Secretary David (01736 755029).
