HAYLE PENWITH U3A:
Hayle U3A has the following programme this week.  Today, Thursday December 3, at 10am there is In the News.  On Tuesday, December 8, at 10am there is Art; then at 2pm the Film Group meets.  Next Thursday, December 10, the U3A Christmas party takes place in the Hayle Day Care Centre starting at 12noon. The following Thursday, December 17 the U3A Christmas lunch takes place at Tehidy Golf Club at 12:30pm. All sessions except Writing are held in the Philip Smith annexe to the Hayle Day Care Centre.  The Writing is held in Hayle Library.
ANGARRACK COFFEE MORNING:
Angarrack's next fortnightly coffee morning takes place this Friday, December 4, between 10am and noon at Angarrack Community Centre.
There will be a special Christmas coffee morning in aid of Meningitis Now on Friday December 18 between 10am and noon at the Angarrack Community Centre.  There will be a raffle, mince pies and a bring & buy stall.  Everyone welcome.
TALK:
There will be a talk by Mr John Potter about a ship called the Kruzenshtern at the Passmore Edwards Institute this Friday December 4 at 7.30pm. All welcome, refreshments and tea or coffee after the talk.
WADER, WATERFOWL AND WILDLIFE WATCH:
Join the RSPB warden at Hayle Estuary on Wednesday December 9 and Wednesday December 16 and explore the shoreline and mudflats around this wonderful estuary looking for wild birds.  This is the season when birds return to the estuary in good numbers.  Enjoy watching waders including oystercatchers, ringed plover, sanderling, dunlin, black-tailed and bar-tailed godwit, curlew, greenshank and redshank. Look through the roosting gulls for the great black-backed, lesser black-backed, herring, common, Mediterranean and black-headed gulls. Meet at Ryan’s Field car park (free), Hayle Estuary nature reserve (SW549362) at 10am until 1pm. Bring suitable outdoor clothing, binoculars but Guide Dogs only please.  The cost is £3 per person (children free) and booking is required.  For more information contact the RSPB on 01736 360624 or email hayle.Estuary@rspb.org.uk
CHRISTMAS BAZAAR:
Bodriggy Academy are holding their Christmas Bazaar this Friday December 4 from 2pm until 4pm. Come along and support the Academy, there will be lots of stalls and a special visit from Father Christmas.
CHRISTMAS FAIR:
Hayle Macmillan Cancer Support Fundraising Committee are holding a  
Christmas fair & pre-loved clothes sale at Phillack Church Hall, Hayle this Saturday December 5 from 10am to 12noon. Refreshments available. Jumble can be left at the hall between 6pm and 7pm on December 4 or for collection phone 01736 752778 or 0788 6499462
MODEL RAILWAY EXHIBITION:
Hayle Model Railway Club and Duchy Railroaders are holding their Christmas exhibition this Saturday, December 5 from 10am till 4:40pm at the Day Care Centre, Commercial Road, Hayle, TR27 4DE.  Admission is £2 for adults and £1 for children.  There will be working layouts in a variety of scales and traders with model rail related goods.  Father Christmas will be in attendance for children under 10 years.  Refreshments will be available.
COUNCILLOR SURGERY:
Cornwall Councillors John Coombe and John Pollard share surgeries on the first Saturday of each month. Drop in for a chat or to seek advice. The next surgery is on Saturday December 5 between 10am and noon at the Hayle library/One Stop Shop, Commercial Road. AGM:
Hayle Royal British Legion are holding their AGM on Tuesday December 8 at 7.pm in the snooker room at the Passmore Edward Institute. They are looking for new members to join the Legion & their committee especially someone to take on the role of secretary. Hayle & district Poppy Appeal so far stands at £8,533.32.
SANTA PARADE:
Cornwall Hospice Care Santa Parade takes place on Friday, December 11.
Hayle School will once again be supporting Cornwall Hospice Care with a Santa Parade and it is hoped that as many students, teachers, governors and support staff as possible will be involved. The Santa Parade will leave the school at intervals from 1.30 pm and walk a two mile route down St Georges Road, along Penpol Terrace, through the town to Copperhouse and back via Humphry Davy Lane with potentially as many as 500 Santas walking through Hayle! Please come out onto the streets of Hayle to support the school and this worthwhile cause… it will certainly get you into the Christmas spirit! Ho, ho, ho…
CHRISTMAS CONCERT:
The West Cornwall Concert Band will be giving their annual Christmas concert at the Hayle Rugby club on Monday December 14 at 7.30pm. This has become a very popular concert and a very social evening where there will be mince pies, tea, coffee and bar refreshments. This is an evening of traditional Christmas music with carols along with audience singing to carols. The tickets are available on the door for £5 on the evening which includes mince pies. PHILLACK CHURCH:
Fun Christmas Quiz on Saturday, December 5, at 7 30pm.  Just £2 50 pp. Light refreshments will be served.  Bring your own bottle if you wish and come and have a great night! This Sunday’s service is at 9.15am followed by tea and biscuits. Monday’s short spoken service is at 6.30pm.
PHILLACK CHURCH HALL:
There will be a Christmas lunch on December 12 at 12 noon.
ST.JOSEPH'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, HAYLE:
St Joseph's Church in Hayle is part of the Roman Catholic Parish of the Holy Family. Mass was celebrated on Saturday November 28 at 6.30 pm with readings from Jeremiah - Thessalonians and gospel by Luke.
There will be Mass on Friday December 4 at 10am at St. Josephs Hayle.
Churches Together. Carol service at St Elwyn’s church this Friday December 4 at 7pm.
Donate a flower in memory of a loved one, names will be included on the Christmas tree.  Details to Stella Wear at church.
Mass of the Vigil on Christmas Eve at 6.30pm in St Joseph’s church.
Knitted hats, scarves and gloves are still needed by Christmas!
