HAYLE PENWITH U3A:

Hayle U3A has the following programme this week.  Today, Thursday February 16, at 10am there is History and Writing; then at 2pm the Social Event "Cornwall Air Ambulance - marking 30 years of service" with Dave Teare takes place.  On Tuesday February 21 at 10am there is Art then at 2pm there is Poetry Reading. All sessions except Writing are held in the Philip Smith annexe to the Hayle Day Care Centre.  The Writing is held in Hayle Library.

HAYLE FILM CLUB:

I, Daniel Blake. Thursday February 23 at 7.30pm

Winner of the Cannes Palme d'Or, Ken Loach's powerful drama follows the story of a man denied disability benefits and a young mother shunted across the country to the only affordable housing available. Immensely moving performances from Dave Johns and Hayley Squires, fighting to keep their dignity and identity in a system that sees them as just faceless 'cases'. As ever, at the Passmore Edwards Institute, house lights down at 7.30pm. Tickets £5/£4 for members, reserve on 01736 752319.

JUMBLE SALE:

A jumble sale in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support will take place on Saturday March 4 at Phillack church hall at 10am. There will also be a sale of "Good as New" clothes at the jumble. Any donations of jumble will be gratefully received. For collection please ring either Suzanne 753635 or Veronica 753823.

HAYLE LIBRARY:

Are you or do you know someone who is living with sight loss? On Monday March 6 Hayle library is hosting an iSight Cornwall awareness day. The iSight team will be offering advice and information about their services and other services available in the community for people living with sight loss. They will be demonstrating equipment that's available to promote and maintain independence as well as accessible smart phones, tablets and electronic magnifiers. They will be able to advise on any benefits that might be available and any clubs or activities that are in the area. QUIZ NIGHT:

Macmillan Cancer Support Hayle committee will be holding a quiz night at Hayle RFC on Friday the March 10 at 7.30pm. Tickets will be £5 to include a pasty. Please advise Veronica on 753823 if you can make it . Teams can be up to 6 people. There will also be a raffle.

AUCTION:

Hayle in Bloom will be holding an auction at 8pm on March 17 at the Cornish Arms.  Items large or small, in good order, are sought for inclusion.  If you have items to donate, pick up will be arranged by phoning Lyn Reffold on 752 166, or drop in to 5 Commercial Road, Hayle.  Funds raised will be used for plants and other garden necessities.  All support is warmly welcomed.

RACE NIGHT:

Hayle Cricket Club will be holding a race night at the Cornish Arms, Hayle on Friday March 24 at 7pm for 7.30pm start to raise funds for the cricket club prior to the start of the season in the Premier League, All welcome. 

HAYLE HERITAGE CENTRE:

ST. ELWYN'S CHURCH:

On Sunday February 19, the second Sunday before Lent the Parish Eucharist will be celebrated by the Reverend Sharon Clifton at 9.30am.

On Wednesday February 22, Said Eucharist will be celebrated by the Reverend Sharon Chalcraft at 10am. Tea, coffee and biscuits are served after each service.

ST.JOSEPH'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, HAYLE:

St Joseph's Church in Hayle is part of the Roman Catholic Parish of the Holy Family. At the 6.30pm Mass on Saturday February 11 the readings were from Ecclesiasticus - Corinthians and gospel by Matthew.

There will be Mass in Hayle this Friday February 17 at 10am.

Lent.  This starts on March 1 (Ash Wednesday). Lent lunches will commence each Wednesday during the Lenten period
