HAYLE PENWITH U3A:

Hayle U3A has the following programme this week.  Today, Thursday October 20, at 10am there is Games; then at 2pm the U3A committee meeting takes place.  On Tuesday October 25 at 10am there is Art then at 2pm the Film club meets.  All sessions except Writing are held in the Philip Smith annexe to the Hayle Day Care Centre.  The Writing is held in Hayle Library.

HAYLE FILM CLUB:

Our Little Sister.  Thursday October 20 at 7.30pm

From the director of Like Father Like Son, this is a charming Japanese tale of family found. At the funeral of the father who deserted them, three grown-up sisters meet their younger half-sister and take her under their wings. A beautiful, subtle portrait of family relationships. Subtitled

CONCERT:

Pendeen Silver Band and West Cornwall Concert Band will be giving a joint concert on Saturday October 22 at 7.30pm at Leedstown Village hall. Both performers will perform music from shows, films and popular music and at the end of the concert the awarding winning Pendeen Silver Band will join in a piece called I Will Follow Him from Sister Act with West Cornwall Concert Band. HAYLE FLOWER CLUB:

Hayle Flower Club will be holding its monthly meeting at Hayle Day Care centre on Wednesday October 26 at 7.30pm. The demonstrator for the evening will be Vera Vigus demonstrating on the subject Ikebana. All welcome. Visitors £3. Come along and make new friends!

 

COFFEE MORNING:

Hayle friends Cornwall Hospice South West (CHSW) are holding a coffee morning at Hayle Day Care centre on October 28 from 10am until 12 30pm. Various stalls. Proceeds to CHSW Little Harbour.  They would also like to thank all those who took part in the quiz sheet held at the Badger. The lucky winner of the £10 prize is Ms H Mason from Carbis Bay.

RSPB BIRDWATCHING FOR BEGINNERS:

Do you ever wonder what lives on the estuary?  Well now is your chance to find out.  Join the RSPB warden and explore the shoreline and mudflats around this wonderful estuary looking for wild birds.  This is the season when birds return to the estuary in good numbers.  Your guide will show you birds like oystercatchers, ringed plover, sanderling, dunlin, black-tailed and bar-tailed godwit, curlew, greenshank, redshank and much, much more.  Meet at Copperhouse swimming pool car park (free), Hayle Estuary nature reserve (SW549362) on Friday November 11, Sunday November 13, Friday November 18 and Sunday November 20 at 10am to 1pm or 2pm to 5pm.  Booking required.  £5 per person (children free). ST ELWYN'S CHURCH:

On Sunday October 23, the Last Sunday after Trinity there will be a Team Service at Phillack at 11am. Please bring a plate of food to share after the Service. On Wednesday October 26, Said Eucharist will be celebrated by the Reverend Sharon Chalcraft at 10am. Tea, coffee and biscuits are served after each service.
