ICOMOS does not believe that this report accurately reflects the ICOMOS comments, nor does it adequately respond to them. Secondly, the plans provided do not adequately address the heritage issues that have been raised.
Peter Channon told the committee that “a dreadful state has befallen Hayle” with the development. He compared the development site as looking like a bombed site in Beirut.

Dear Mr Bainbridge
In response to the Hayle Town Council objection of 21st April 2020 please see our comments below:
In relation to planning policy we have undertaken extensive dialogue with Hayle Town Council and provided advice from a former senior legal counsel to Cornwall Council which demonstrated that the scheme is policy compliant.
We believe Cornwall Senior Management has written to HTC to support this advice and the advice of yourself.
We understand HTC has taken no advice in relation to any of their comments. read more »

179 STANDING AGENDA ITEMS (FOR REPORTING ONLY)
a) Hayle Harbour Update
It was reported that Simon Wright had rung the clerk and had agreed he would attend an informal meeting with the town council on 10 January. He was having a meeting with the architect on 7 January to look at how the plans could be amended to take into account some of the comments by the town council and particularly ICOMOS, whose report was a direct response to the developer and not a public document. He had added that the comments from both were not the same. read more »
