Should we have dog friendly beaches?
Wednesday, 28 August 2019 - Environment
People can have their say on seasonal restrictions for dogs on beaches in a consultation being run by Cornwall Council.
The Council has Public Spaces Protection Orders which apply restrictions at certain times of the year for dogs on 48 beaches across Cornwall. The orders will expire next April so the council is asking residents for their views before the new restrictions are drawn up which will last for three years.
The Council is asking whether more or less beaches should have restrictions and whether there should be blanket start and finish dates for example from May 1 to September 30. The Council also wants feedback on which month the restrictions should start and end and the times of day the restrictions should be in force.
The consultation runs until November 19. It can be accessed on https://www.cornwall.gov.uk/environment-and-planning/animal-welfare/dog-welfare-and-enforcement-service/controlling-your-dog-in-public/dogs-on-beaches-pspo-consultation-2019/.
