On February 7, 2022 members of the West Sub-Area Planning Committee at Cornwall Council agreed to grant planning permission - subject to conditions and Section 106 planning obligations - on a site off Viaduct Hill.
This was despite the town council warning that the area already has 700 extra houses in the pipeline and could cope with any more development.

‘Don’t pretend Covid has disappeared!’ This is the message to Cornwall’s residents and visitors ahead of the busy Easter break.

People are also reminded that all Covid-19 testing sites are now closed as part of the Government’s Living with Covid strategy and move to end free testing for the general population.

Some people – including those living and working in health and care settings – will still have access to free tests but the majority will have the option of purchasing them. More information on this will be available on the Government website.

Residents will pay significantly less to travel by bus from next week under a new pilot scheme led by Cornwall Council to encourage more people to travel by bus.

The reduced bus fares pilot scheme is a first for a local authority and follows a successful bid by the Council for £23.5m funded by UK Government.

It will mean adult bus passengers will, on average, pay one-third less for their fares when new summer timetables are introduced on Sunday, April 10.  read more »
