Zebra crossing top Basset Street flooded (again!), 8th September

Fri, 08/09/2017 - 11:32
The zebra crossing at the library end of Basset Street gets flooded in the gutter and on the pavement at the slightest drop of rain. This morning in is dreadful - you need Wellingtons to wade through it. Not easy when you are disabled and cannot jump over it. This has been reported many times over years and the last time it was "repaired" was a few months ago. They made it worse - tarmacking on 3 sides of it and leaving the lower bit where the water lies even lower. It is a disgrace and more than time that it was repaired properly.

Parking on Grass area which is cutting up the grass as they leave the road and making it slippery underfoot., 23rd August

Wed, 23/08/2017 - 11:44
( Apologies as I do not know how to remove number plates) This pretty wooded and grassed area has recently ( 6 months plus) been used on a daily basis as a Car Parking area and spoiling the whole look of an otherwise attractive area. In the wet months it cuts up the grass and makes it muddy and difficult to walk over. This, is presumably NOT a public parking area but it's being used as one over and over again.

Illegal and dangerous parking headland close, headland road, 4th August

Fri, 04/08/2017 - 15:26
Vehicles continuing to park illegally, and in a dangerous location at Headland Close, Headland road. Offences contrary to: Section 22 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 makes it an offence for the person in charge to leave a vehicle or trailer on a road in such a position or condition as to cause a danger to other road users. Regulation 103 of the Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986 creates the offence of unnecessary obstruction. No person in charge of a motor vehicle or trailer shall cause or permit the vehicle to stand on a road so as to cause any unnecessary obstruction of the road. Section 137 of the Highways Act 1980 (as amended by sections 38 and 46 of the Criminal Justice Act 1982 and the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984, Schedule 7) provides an offence of wilful obstruction of the highway. An offence is committed if a person, without lawful authority or excuse, in any way willfully obstructs the free passage along a highway. I am aware some of these offences are the responsibility of the police. If action is not taken by either prosecuting authority soon there is the very real possibility of a serious road traffic collision or fatality, given the restricted visibility caused by vehicles parking in a dangerous and illegal manner. Further access to the roads and pavements are severely restricted.
