Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service orders no more bonfires after string of incidents
There have been numerous incidents of bonfires raging out of control
Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service has toughened its stance on bonfires advising the public to stop having them until further notice.
On Monday Cornwall Live reported how the fire service asked people to think carefully before starting a bonfire following a number of occasions when firefighters across the county were called to deal with out-of-control bonfires that had spread.
The calls resulted in the service’s resources being stretched at this desperate time.
Now, 24 hours on, Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service has taken an even tougher line.
A statement said: “Due to the ongoing challenges of #covid19 the fire service is asking members of the public to cease all controlled burns until further notice .Thanks for your cooperation.#StayHomeSaveLives
“We are advising members of the public due to the ongoing challenges of COVID-19, to cease all controlled burnings until further notice.
