Proposed redevelopment of the Jewson site to include a new Jewson building
and yard with redevelopment and conservation of the remaining premises to
provide up to 60 residential units with associated access and open space.

The team will be available at the event to discuss the scheme, answer any

GWR Longrock Depot Open Day 2019

GWR has announced they will open the doors of the Long Rock Maintenance Depot to the public on Saturday 13 April 2019, raising money for the Penlee Lifeboat station and the RNLI.

On display will be a wide range of old and modern trains and locomotives which have played a part in making Cornwall’s railway a success. From the newest high tech, Intercity Express Train to vintage diesel and steam, all will be available for visitors.

There will also be a chance for members of the public to see the new facilities at the depot, following its multimillion modernisation last year.

During the event, one of GWR’s new Intercity Express Trains will be dedicated to heroes of Cornwall in a special ceremony. The Class 802 train will have the honour of carrying the names of Rick Rescorla and Penlee Lifeboat – Solomon Browne.

Rick, originally from Hayle, was Security Chief for Morgan Stanley at the World Trade Centre and is credited with saving the lives of over 2,500 people, as he evacuated them from the South Tower.

Penlee Lifeboat – Solomon Browne went down with all hands on 19 December 1981 when it went to the aid of MV Union Star. All eight crew of the lifeboat and eight passengers and crew of the Union Star were lost.

The depot, which has undergone major refurbishment and modernisation during 2018, is now the main maintenance facility for the world-famous Night Riviera Sleeper service, as well as maintaining other trains in the GWR fleet.

Gates open at 10am and will close at 4pm.

Accompanied Child (5-15 yrs) = £5

Group (2 Adults and up to 3 Children) = £37

Accompanied Children under 5 go free

All proceeds to the RNLI and Penlee Lifeboat station.

Tickets limited to 4,500. No Refunds are available. No tickets available to purchase on the day!

Penzance Vintage Bus Running Day 2019

Cornwall Bus Preservation Society's Annual Penzance Running Day in association with Thames Valley & Great Western Omnibus Trust .

The Cornwall Bus Preservation Society in association with the Thames Valley & Great Western Omnibus Trust invites you to come to sunny, warm West Cornwall for our event on Sunday 21 April 2019. This will be our 12^th vintage bus running day in Penzance following the original Final VR Running Day on 9 December 2006.

The Running Day will be based at Penzance Bus Station (adjacent to the main railway station) with vintage bus services running from 10.00 until 17.00. Routes around West Cornwall will include Penzance to Camborne, St Ives, St Just, Hayle, Marazion/Perranuthnoe, Praa Sands, Paul/Sheffield and out to Sennen Cove and Land’s End with small vehicles going into Mousehole, a highlight for many.

There will be feeder bus services to and from Camborne, St Ives and Goldsithney – timing tbc.

St. Ives – probably the most spectacular bus station site in the UK – three different routes to and fro’ Penzance

As always, the day will revive memories of VR operations in West Cornwall – some of these plus others, new to the event, will be in service.

Programmes

To accompany this event a fully illustrated colour programme is being produced. In addition to timetables and details of the vehicles attending, the programme will include an illustrated history of the liveries carried by buses forming the West Cornwall scene over the past 100 years and more. So you can plan your day, programmes can be purchased in advance as follows:

BY POST for £6.50 including p&p (programmes will be despatched from 8^th April) by either:

- Sending a cheque payable to ‘TV&GWOT’ to Ledger Farm, Forest Green Road, Fifield, Maidenhead SL6 2NR, or

- Paying by Paypal (including any postal / delivery instructions in the notes)

IN PERSON from 10^th April for £5 at outlets in Penzance and St Ives to be announced in due course.
