The names of stores lined up for a new retail park on the outskirts of Truro have been revealed in a new planning application for the site.

Planning consent is already in place for the development of a supermarket and retail stores on land at Hendra Park at Threemilestone.

It had previously been announced that Aldi was looking to move from its current home at Highertown to Hendra.

And now it has been revealed that Next, Boots, Go Outdoors, Smyths Toys, Shoezone, KFC and Wren Kitchens are also set to open on the site which sits next to the Langarth park and ride.

The new application sets out the form and design of the planned retail park as well as the addition of mezzanine floors in four of the stores and an extension to one of the units.

It is also seeking to change the use of one of the units with a planned pub/restaurant replaced with the Next store.

Along with the retail units there will also be a large car park for the development.

Letters from the retailers giving their commitment to take up the new stores have been included with the application.

Next reveal their store could create 40 jobs but also admit that it would mean that its current store in Truro City Centre will close.

Shoezone says its store will create seven new jobs; Smyths indicates 30 full time and 60 seasonal jobs; Wren will have 20 full time and five part time jobs and KFC would create 30 to 50 jobs.

A retail statement included with the application states that Go Outdoors, Smyths, Shoezone and Wren do not currently have stores in Cornwall with the closest being in Plymouth.

The retail park is part of wider development plans for the Langarth area which include other sites which have planning permission for homes, schools, shops and other facilities.

Cornwall Council has made an intervention in the various housing developments after they stalled and is looking to bring them together to make a “new town” which could be home for up to 8,000 people.

The area is also the planned location for the Stadium for Cornwall which will be home to the Cornish Pirates and Truro City.

No indication has been given for when the planning application for the Hendra site will be determined.
