The final piece of the South Quay regeneration jigsaw goes on display at the Passmore Edwards Institute in Hayle next week.

Final designs for the wharf houses, apartments and the quayside restaurants, which were approved in principle in 2012, will be put on display.

New owners Hayle Quays Ltd acquired South Quay in February this year, and immediately entered into consultation and workshops with town councillors and heritage representatives.

"The goal has been to create a scheme that is not only extremely attractive, but also carries forward the cutting edge design which is such a part of the South Quay food store (Asda)," said Simon Clarke.

"We also want to ensure access for the public and easy passage to the quayside for harbour users," he added.

Architect Matt Williams from Penzance has once again been retained to come up with the overall look of the South Quay scheme, and has been at pains to deliver designs that recognise the heritage values of Hayle Harbour whilst emphasising its natural environment.

"We wanted to take the outline consent and make it more vibrant. Open to all and yet a pleasant place to live for families and couples," he said.

"We want the head of South Quay to be a real focus and a meeting point for local residents and tourists. For years it was effectively closed to the public –it now can play a real role in promoting Hayle. After all it offers such a spectacular view of the harbour and the estuary why wouldn't you want to sit and enjoy it."

The designs will be on display from 11am to 7.30pm at the Passmore Edwards Institute Hayle Terrace Hayle on Tuesday, May 23.
