Man, 74, in custody as police investigate suspected murder at Hayle

A 74-year-old man from Hayle is in custody on suspicion of murder, following the death of a woman in her 50s.

Police were called by the ambulance service shortly after 2am this morning (Monday) to an address in Foundry Square, Hayle, following concern for the welfare of a woman inside the property.

The woman had multiple injuries and was confirmed dead at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed.

Senior Investigation Officer, Detective Inspector Stephanie Blundell, said: “This is currently being treated as an isolated incident and at this time we are not seeking anyone else in connection to the death.

“A scene guard currently remains in place and local residents are likely to see officers in the area over the coming hours as the investigation continues."
