2.7 On the 13Th September 2013, we held an Angarrack Preview at the Angarrack Church and Community Centre in Cornwall. This was an opportunity for those most affected by the plans to meet the project team prior to the exhibition.

2.9 The public consultation raised a number of issues, which Cranford Developments have considered when finalising the plans for the proposed scheme. An overwhelming majority of comments made by residents expressed statements of support for the proposals and general endorsement for the Hayle Shopping Park scheme. Many residents also suggested alternative retailers they would like to see in the Hayle Shopping Park and supported the job creation that the scheme would generate. Residents expressed hopes that the parking would be both adequate for the size of the store and for the increased number of cars, in addition to concerns about the traffic flow and pressure on the A30 which could lead to increased congestion.

2.10 Cranford has considered and reviewed all the feedback received from the consultation. The main points are listed in section 5. In response to the consultation, further design amendments have been made, most notably:

  • Providing a pedestrian crossing over the A30 at ground level
  • Providing speed calming measures on the approach to Angarrack
  • Providing a dedicated ‘staff parking area’
  • Increasing the amount of customer car parking
  • Improving the design of the Green Buffer through the use of 3m high earth bund
  • Improving pedestrian Links to West Cornwall Shopping Park
  • Improving the new store elevational designs
  • Improving the security on the pathways to the Marsh Lane Nature Reserve.
