DYING to LIVE:

A workshop on letting go into living and dying takes place from the evening on June 17 then June 18 and June 19. The aim is to transform perceptions around death and dying; supporting people in rediscovering the deep understanding of themselves and of life that death can give. This seems to have been lost in society today. The workshop aims to de-mystify death, dying, loss and grief......to change the act of dying from denial and resistance into an essential part of people's lives ....to lose their fear. A GP assists on this weekend. These beautiful workshops provide a supportive and safe space to explore the relationship with death and endings and to experience how changing the relationship to dying can totally transform the experience of living. See www.livinganddying.co.uk or call 01736 799231 to book or for more info.

CELTIC / CORNISH MUSIC NIGHT:

SOUTH WEST RDA:

The Regional championships in show jumping, dressage and countryside challenge have just finished, competing against riders from Devon, Dorset, Somerset and the rest of Cornwall. The association is delighted to report that Jarred and Tyler have qualified to go to the Nationals in July at Hartpury in Gloucestershire, with Jarred also winning the cup for the highest mark in Countryside Challenge. They gained 1sts and 2nds in their non-qualifying classes too. Kieran, Kaya and Conor also acquitted themselves very well, all being well placed in their non-qualifying classes. Tyler also won the fun class for a decorated hat with an amazing large and colourful chicken! Once again thanks go to the West Cornwall Youth Trust for funding all this activity.

HAYLE TWINNING ASSOCIATION:

Once again the visit of Hayle's friends from twinned town PORDIC in Brittany is over for another year. This happens so quickly.  The group of 40 arrived on Wednesday May 4 at 11pm, they were met and went off with their hosts. Some knew each other, the others were meeting for the first time. The following morning there was a welcome reception at the council offices, Nick Farrar the deputy mayor was there to greet them and there were some nibbles and some soft drinks for everyone provided by the twinning association. Photos were taken then it was down to the new Tri-station to be shown around. Chris and Ian showed everyone round. In the evening the members of Pordic judo club were invited to meet up with Hayle judo club for an informal get together. It was a very interesting and entertaining evening which will hopefully lead to links between these clubs.  This is what twinning is all about! On Friday some visited Paradise park in Hayle, some visited different gardens and others visited ancient sites, the Isles of Scilly was another destination. Of course on Saturday some went to Helston Flora day. it was then time for the goodbyes which is always difficult.

The association would like to thank Nick, the council, the Tri-station and the judo club for their welcomes.

The return visit to Pordic happens in August, leaving Hayle on Saturday 27 and returning on Wednesday 31.

Next year is the 20th anniversary so that will be a special year.

Fund raising continues throughout the year. On Saturday July 2 there will be a coach trip to Buckfast Abbey at only £14.per person. To reserve a place please call Maurice in good time on 01736 753341.
