NETWORK RAIL PLANNED WORKS TO HAYLE VIADUCT

Network Rail will soon begin the first step of a project to renew the timber deck and repair the steel elements of Hayle Viaduct. In order to undertake these works safely scaffolding has been erected to access the structure - road and pedestrican access under the scaffolding structure will be maintained with the exception of Foundry Lane where access either side of the viaduct will be available throughout.

To renew the timber deck safely works will be undertaken working 24/7 in a 16 day railway closure between Saturday 8 November and Monday 24 November 2014.

During this period rail replacement buses will operate in place of planned services. More information on service changes can be found here . Alternatively phone 0345 7000 125 or email fgwfeedback@firstgroup.com .

Network Rail are obliged to work, whenever possible, at times that cause the least disruption to train services. Unfortunately this means they have to carry out a lot of their improvements during the night and at weekends and the nature of their equipment means some disturbance is unavoidable, but they have said they will make every effort to minimise any unnecessary noise.

Once the timber deck works are complete the repairs to the steelwork elements of the structure will continue. This will involve removing paint and corrosion from the steel and installing new to improve condition. These works will be undertaken in daytime hours, between 7am and 6pm daily.

Network Rail have arranged a drop in session where members of the public can find out more about the project. It will be held at Hayle Community Centre (Room 7), 58 Queensway, on Tuesday 28 October between 3pm and 7pm.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding the works in the interim, please contact Network Rail on 08457 11 41 41.
